The show here in St. Paul was good. I was sitting on the side of the stage and it wasn't sold out and fans suck here, so they weren't into it as much as I'd hoped. The sound quality, however was the most amazing I've ever heard in a concert. The boys were right on all night. The next night in Chicago was even better. The fans there really know how to party. As soon as the lights dimmed for M5 to come on, the entire crowd-every single person- stood up. And they didn't sit down the entire show. They also knew all of the words to all of the songs, new and old. It was amazing to see the guys feed off the energy of the crowd. A few of my friends from the boards had seats in the first couple of rows for St. Paul and of course had a different experience than I did. However, in Chicago, I was sitting in pretty much the same place and had a much more amazing time.

I wasn't 'covering' the gig for a magazine. There was probably a blurb in a small local newspaper but I have no idea which one. For little out-of-the-way concerts, especially from a cover band, photographers aren't hired.

Because I wasn't hired bythe LA Times or The Viper Room, I was hired by a third-party and I will not work for anyone without a signed contract. I've been doing it that way for years.

Ive had people threaten to kill me, smack me etc because I am not part of the regular pack on the boards, you never see me bitching about it. Probably because their words don't have weight with me outside of the boards. Either that or my tolerance is extremely high and it takes a lot to rattle me at this point.

My AIm has been driving me up the freakin; wall for over 2 weeks! That among other things makes me want to scream. Obviously I see the shit on the board, that's why I've been staying out of it, I learned THAT the hard way. I say my piece and leave. It's totally nuts but you know, from being on the old board, that this shit happens off & on and now I try to stay clear. It's a good feeling to not be in the eye of the storm. I understand why you're pissed off but you've always been one to let this shit roll off your back. Look at the crap I had to put up with over the years, but eventually, I just grew numb to it. I for one don't buy the shit that the guys stay away from the board because of negative comments. All of us old boardies know that THAT is bullshit because except for James and Jesse, NONE OF THEM EVER read the board. And that last TD from Adam: NOT written by Adam. Adam's last chat a few years ago: NOT Adam (and a fan caught on to someone who was pretending to be Adam because Adam rfefused to do it. I rest my case.

Ahhhhhh because if I was on the guest list I wouldn't have dragged my sorry ass out to Vegas. I dragged my sorry ass out to Vegas because I was paid, ya don't get paid when you're a guest lister! Plus guest list people don't carry credentials that allow then to wander all over, but I'm not that 'wandering' type. When I'm working, I'm all about getting the shots, loading and leaving, unless I have a side-relationship with the the band/artist I'm photographing, then I may hang for a while but no too long.

MTV was pulling my strings but they got very VERY little to work with. It was a poorly structured environment and I have an aversion to people who tell ME when to 'point & shoot'. I don't roll that way! But yeah, in-house is usually the standard unless you know someone on the inside. That's when 'having a good friend' supercedes reputation. Who got these 25-30 pix beats me, I doubt they were any sort of decent quality but that's now their problem. Normally I make multiples of my cards and download into my own system first, then I'd give them the flash card or whatever/however they want it. This time, I dropped the card off at the corporate office and left. THAT'S how enthusiastic I was!

I've ws wearing earplug before that. But aside from my monitors, my earplugs are also custom made (they block out about 70 dB, and if I'm working in the pit, I will often wear a pair of Bose noise cancelling headphone depending on the band.

Thanks. I took the photo using a shitty camera phone but it came out amazingly and i fell in love with it. i took a few frames because it was late in the evening so the suns position was changing rapidly but this was the money shot. Thanks for your comment.
