Making snap music is the price of going mainstream. I can't stand snap music either, but i'll admit if I soley heard it in a club or just when you go dancing with your friends, I'd like it, becuase its good dance music (despite the corny lyrics). And yes, it is killing hip hops wonderful reputation. Becuase I swear if someone calls common a rapper one more time i'll hit them. There is a huge difference between rap and hip hop that not many people understand. And I feel bad for the up coming generation because all they hear is snap music and so of course they are going to assume its the greatest thing ever, becuase the radio refuses to play anything else. whats even more offensive is that I heard from a friend, they didn't want to play common on B.E.T because they said it was "to intellegent." ????? to intellegent for who? thats like saying everyone who watches that channel is stupid. I think if they played nothing but hip hop and some meaningfull rock music, on the radio, the whole music industry would change becuase people would thirst for those good songs. Also, if you want to get big, you might as well do what Pharrell is doing right now. He came out with N.E.R.D, got a lot of respect, and now went mainstream so people who normally wouldn't listen to him would pick up his old c-ds.

i could give you biggest hug right now lol, i feel the EXACT same way. It makes me irratated when people who make whack ass lyrics are insanely popular, and people like Lupe Fiasco, Outkast, or other artists with very meaningfull lyrics get such little respect. I had to stop listening to the radio because everything they play is basically dance music. And as a female, I don't understand how other females can listen to some rap artists. Like, "t-bag that hoe" I pray is just some dude with a mic making a joke, or even a majority of rap songs that talk about fucking some girl instead of making love to her, and how much of a slut she is. Or even how they prefer these "easy" girls over a lady. It makes me angry, and espically when people tell me im just a hater. Im like.."noo..the music just sucks." That is exactly why I went to Hip Hop. I don't understand people who can give up there really good beats to artist who don't really talk about anything either. I heard one interview with some rap artist (can't remember the name because I was probably scowling at the tv.) But he said something like "being in the music buisness is hard." I can understand that, becuase a lot of artists get ripped off, or paid little, so they try to make music that they know tons of people will listen to. But at the same time they are ruining the art of making music itself. Most songs are just about sex or killing now, and people are getting praised for that crap. bah, I don't understand it.

Pharrell has been catching ALOT of shit from Stevie Williams (pro skateboarder, BEST street skater alive--anybody who skates knows who he is) & his company, DGK. Basically, from the viewpoint of Stevie & the DGK team: Pharrell is just on the skateboarding bandwagon for $$$ & not for the sport. I mean let's be honest here, a good 80% of everyday skaters aint dishing out $300 for a hoodie or $100-120 for a t-shirt. Anywayz, it IS TRUE that Pharrell NO LONGER SKATES. He has said it in multiple interviews he did it here & there growing up, but after he got in music HE NO LONGER SKATES. So from a skateboarder's viewpoint, he's somewhat of a poser. Sure there are vids of him riding around and stuff, but HE KNOWS NO TRICKS. Stevie has room to talk for a few reasons as well: 1. Pharrell practically BEGGED for him to be the flagship skater on Ice Cream--he refused, so Pharrell got average ass Terry Kennedy instead. Having grown up in LA/Compton/San Diego--I don't appreciate TK claiming Long Beach as a "hood" and then nicknaming himself "Compton Ass Terry" when he GREW UP IN LONG BEACH. I've been to LB many times and it aint shit, its far from a ghetto and even further from being "gangsta". 2. He's the BEST street skater alive and a very positive role model to minority skaters. 3. Stevie grew up on Broad Street Philadelphia, PA (probably top 5 worse blocks in the "ghettos" of Philly)--he ran away from home to escape drug dealing, slept on his friends' couches in LA, and finally got sponsored by Chocolate Skateboards & DC Shoes. He came from absolutely NOTHING to something. I saw pics of his old house & damn near cried cuz it was just him & his moms. His dad left before he was even 5. sooooooooooo basically: Stevie, the DGK team, and Reebok (who no longer are part of BBC/Ice Cream production--both companies are owned by Bape creator, Nigo now) don't like the high-priced clothing and direction that BBC/Ice Cream are going in. Stevie has alot of respect tho for Lupe WHO DOES SKATE & therefore landed a sponsorship on Stevie's DGK team. Lupe gets free gear from em all day and will be rapping on upcoming DGK mixtapes done by DJ Green Lantern. Another person who just got involved with DGK is rapper (and fellow Philly native) Beanie Sigel. He will be designing clothes and things for the line now and be Vice President or sumthin of the company. He talks about it in The Source (the one with Ludacris on the cover) As for the Lupe/Terry Kennedy beef shit--Pharrell told TK's dumb ass he was off the team if he didn't shut the fuck up about Lupe. That beef was "squashed" before it even got started, and I've heard three tracks from TK. Trust me when I say this: Terry Kennedy DOSN'T WANT IT WIT LUPE. Lupe is far from a gangsta, but he raps circles around TK.

it was onmy 17th birthday when he came to leeds. I got vip passes and met him, we didnt have a proper chat but he grabbed my hand and waved at me whilst he was on stage and i showed him my pink jacobs - bape watch!! he was well impressed!! Im not joking it was the best day of my life coz ive been a fan for 8 years and i still cant believe ive met him!! couldnt have been on a better day either coz i was 17 on that day sooooo it was extra extra extra special!!
