TodayToday I gave a homeless man change... it was strange Definitely not the 1st time, but I almost refrained From helping him out at all. I see em all the time But usually I'm so busy that I pay em little mind Or sometimes I'm so upset that mean words menstruate I blame em for where they are, being evil, spewing hate But Today I had the gospel on- totally out the norm And maybe some message in it caused me to conform And give in to a kinder side a side that really knows Life is far from fair and not to judge cuz someone chose To walk a different path then the one I've might have taken For I dont know the factors that went into the decision makin Today I helped a person whose eyes tell a story He wears no badge of courage, wont die valiantly in glory But he's a soldier... he knows about treading thru trenches Barbed wired fields, land mines, under benches Or under freeway passes, thats where he's makes his home Each car that pulls up sparkling with chrome Serves as an opportunity, a chance to get ahead Whether it be for just a drink or simply to be fed With all the nerve he can muster, he approaches with a sign "Homeless needing Help"... any help that he can find Today I gave a homeless man change... it was strange Definitely not my 1st time but Today I almost refrained.
